Mobiles are such beautiful features to put in babies and young children's rooms. It is the first thing they see each morning, after their naps and at bedtime. I just had to share this one because it is simply adorable and handcrafted! This mobile is in this stunning chevron room and hangs from the center of the ceiling light (wish I had a picture of it displayed that way).
What is so special about this mobile is it brings the outdoors inside with its beautiful handcrafted natural elements of wood and sewn fabric pieced into birds. I wish I could say I made this, but I did not. Here are the details of how and what you need to make it:
- wire
- beads
- 3 driftwood sticks, various sizes
- screw eyes
- elements you want hanging
- fabric to sew together into bird shapes
- stuffing for birds
Since I did not make this myself, I am going off how this one looks. First make your birds. Then lay your sticks on the ground how you want them in order of large, middle size and the smallest last. Then fasten wire into the top and bottom of the sticks with screw eyes as it looks below. Then add beads in-between. Repeat for each stick. The first and second stick should have 3 wires falling from it. The center wire attaches to the next stick. The last stick has no wire dropping from it, just a middle to attach to the stick above it. To fasten birds, poke wire through the top of the bird at the seam and right out (like you are sewing). Twist the wire to fasten.
Wouldn't this be adorable in any little boy or girls room? You can also customize the fabric patterns to match other fabric in the room!
