How to make homemade beet juice
For this ultra-fabulous detox beet juice drink, I recommend using one of these best juicer blender combo appliances or just a blender or juicer.. Personally, I use my Vitamix constantly and love it. It purees foods like no other blender.
If using a juicer, you can can skip the coconut water as an option. It is used in the blender to help it mix and add nutrients.
Juicer method
In a juicer, add apple (with core removed and halved), beets (with skins removed and stems removed), carrots (peeled and stem removed), ginger (with skin removed), a whole lemon (slice off ends first and cut off all of the skin and rind), and coconut water. The juicer will discard the unnecessary parts. Yay!!!
Blender method
If you do not have a juicer a REALLY GOOD blender is needed, aka, Vitamix. For this version add apple (with core removed and halved), beets (with skins removed and stems removed), carrots (peeled and stem removed), ginger (with skin removed), a whole lemon (slice off ends first and cut off all of the skin and rind), and coconut water.
Blend until smooth. Then use a nut bag or mesh bag and separate the grindy fibrous parts from the liquid. Use a funnel to pour into two glasses, or one large glass.
Recipe FAQs
It makes two servings but sometimes I enjoy it all by myself! This glass filled was all mine after the photos😊.
Spinach is a fabulous way to detox. If you want more nutrients you can add a small handful of either spinach, chard, mint or parsley to the mix.
Once a day is enough.
Beet juice is best stored in the refrigerator and consumed within 1-2 days. If the juice settles and separates, shake or stir it first to mix it together.
Side effects
If you are not familiar with beets, they excrete lots of red which can dye skin, clothes, furniture and… bowel movements. Yes, I said it. Do not be alarmed if stools are discolored red, this is from the beets. Stools may also be looser as they remove toxins from the body.

Karen says
Should the beets be cooked first?
Danielle Fahrenkrug says
Hi Karen! The beets do not need cooking, just add them raw. If using a juicer you can leave the skin on, just wash them well as the juicer separates it. If using a blender remove the skin first with a vegetable peeler.
