Christmas is almost near which means Advent Calendars are here! I love magical Christmas decorations, music and movies. Have you gotten into the Hallmark Channel yet? They have started playing Christmas movies and December 1st will begin their 25 Day Count Down Till Christmas! I sure do get excited for nap time or mammas early bedtime to watch my holiday shows. Hallmark’s Christmas movies make for a warm and fuzzy moment.
Which leads to getting into the holiday spirit and crafts. This advent calendar is created using old toilet paper rolls & paper towel rolls.
It is filled with toys and fun crayons instead of candy. I used a cardboard backing, pretty craft paper (or use wrapping or wall paper), toilet paper rolls, tissue paper, clear hair ties and sticker numbers. What’s fun is you can cater this project to your style and home decor. Our home is beige and grey – very neutral – so the backing of our calendar blends with that design.
You can make yours with a holiday paper backing or red tissue paper to add pops of holiday spirit colors!
Here is what you need to make your own Advent Calendar:
- cardboard backing
- 13 toilet paper rolls or about 9 paper towel rolls
- hot glue gun
- hair ties (I prefer clear)
- sticker letters
- tissue paper
- ribbon for hanging
- toys or candy to fill each day
- all purpose tacky glue
- decorative paper or wrapping paper
Instructions:
1. Cut and glue your decorative paper to fit the cardboard using tacky glue.
