Bringing home a new baby can be quite a difficult transition for siblings. C is doing well with it so far but it has taken a lot of prep work. We have tried to ensure him that there is plenty of love for both him and the baby and my arms are ever growing to hold them both. He helped me wash the baby clothes, decorate the baby's room and even made special gifts for the baby. We transformed a bland chair to match the nursery décor and C made a few pieces of artwork for the room.
We were given a kids chair from a friend that C loves but it needed a fresh coat of paint. Lets just say I heart spray paint! You can revamp any piece of furniture or create beautiful home décor pieces like this pine cone wreath we made last year. We decided to keep the chair in the baby's room so big brother can sit with me and help feed or use as a stool when we check on the baby during naptime. No prep-work needed – just grab your can and spray away!
Using two blank canvases, I pulled colors from the nursery for C to create some lovely artwork for when his baby brother arrives. When we brought the baby home from the hospital we had Chase show him his gift (we also had a gift for Chase from his baby brother that he was given when they met). We later put each of the boys hand prints on the paintings and documented the date and age. A memorable keepsake!
