Our Saturdays have taken a turn from house projects to arts and crafts time. This past Saturday after cleaning out the pantry, I noticed we have a plethora of paper bags, cupcake decorations and liners. We decided that the best way to recycle them is to use them for gift wrapping.
This is such a fun inexpensive way to get your kids involved in the prettiness of gift giving! This past month was my son's 2nd birthday and he was having so much fun opening gifts! But when it was his turn to give a gift he could not quite understand why he did not get to open it. So we had a blast making this together to appreciate the gift of giving (and bonus- the clean-up is not super messy:-). For extra personalizing, have your kids paint or color plain cupcake liners or the paper bag!
- paper bags
- streamers (I used white to line behind ribbon)
- cupcake liners
- toilet paper roll
- spray paint (optional)
- fine glitter (optional)
- tape
- ribbon
- stapler
Instructions:
1. Cut your paper bag down the side and across the bottom so it lays flat. Wrap your gift.
2. Use the streamers to line the box in any direction you want. Tape it at the bottom. You can double it up if you like for an extra thick appearance.
3. Decorate with ribbon.
4. Make Flowers:
- Cupcake Liner Flowers: Gather about 10 cupcake liners, keeping them one over top another. Pinch at the bottom and staple together. Slowly and carefully pull each layer up to separate them until it looks like a flower. Tape to box or fasten a ribbon through the liner and tape it to the ribbon.
- Toilet Paper Roll Flowers: Cut a roll of toilet paper into 6- 1/2 inch parts. Staple them together in a circle as shown below. Spray paint and sprinkle with fine glitter. Tape to box.
