If you have ever been skeptical about trying a juice cleanse with parsley or wondered if a vegetable juice recipe with parsley is even good - it is!
Like in my cabbage juicer recipe, the benefits of parsley and lemon support digestive health, antioxidants, weight loss, reduce inflammation, detox the body, and so much more. I used to think parsley juice would taste like grass, but it tastes sweet, refreshing, and delicious and is one of my favorite juicing recipes!

Juicing with parsley
Adding parsley to the juicer is just the beginning of a beautiful blend with cucumbers, celery, ginger, and lemon. We take a huge bushel of fresh parsley, citrus, and green vegetables and turn it into an amazing vegetable juice that is a great juice for weight loss!
Parsley contains a plethora of nutrition, including antioxidants, enzymes, vitamins, minerals, volatile oils, and chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is a wonderful nutrient that detoxes the body and adds bursts of antioxidants.
Too much parsley does have some side effects, which we cover below in the Side effects section. This easy parsley water has the addition of coconut water to help enhance electrolytes the body needs.
Key ingredients
- Fresh parsley - use the whole bunch of leaves and stems.
- Celery - wash and remove the leaves first.
- Cucumber - helps to increase the liquid and provide hydration and electrolytes.
- Green apple - adds sweetness and supports digestion like acv shots.
- Lemon and ginger - lemon is a great drink for digestion and ginger helps reduce inflammation.
- Coconut water - adds electrolytes and increases hydration to flush out toxins.
See the below recipe card for quantities.
Variations
- I like to use coconut water for electrolytes in this parsley drink. You can swap it out for 1 cup of fresh water.
- Parsley is actually in the carrot family! You can add in 1 large carrot to this recipe as well which adds more natural sweetness.
Recipe instructions in a blender
Here is exactly how to make parsley juice with celery and cucumber. We do the same method as detox green juice and carrot juice by blending then using a nut bag to strain the pulp.
I highly recommend this high powered blender.
Step 1 (image 1): Prepare the vegetables and fruits and add to a blender. Blend until smooth.
Step 2 (image 2): Use a nut bag and strain over a large bowl to separate the pulp and fibers from the liquid. Pour into a glass with ice or serve chilled.
Recipe instructions in a juicer
Rinse and prepare the fruits and vegetables. You can put the whole lemon in a juicer as the juicer separates it. Add to a juicer and pour into a glass. Serve over ice or chill first and enjoy.
I highly recommend this juicer.
Storage
Store your fresh homemade Parsley Juice in the refrigerator in a sealed jar and consume within 1-2 days for maximum potency. The longer it sets then the nutrients decrease so it is best to drink fresh pressed juices as soon as possible. Shake well if settlement occurs before drinking.
Recipe FAQs
Drinking parsley juice 1 time, or 4-8 ounces per day is safe. If you have any of the side effects listed below than reduce the amount to once every other day. This drink is a condensed version of vitamins, nutrients, chlorophyll and antioxidants.
Parsley juice and parsley tea is great to detox the body. It is a natural detoxifier and diuretic to trigger urination, the liver, and kidneys to flush out toxins from the body.
Side effects
This may not always happen, but some times drinking parsley juice can have side effects. I personally only drink about 1 cup every once in a while and not every day.
Allergic Reactions: Some individuals may be allergic to parsley or other plants in the same family (Apiaceae). Allergic reactions may include itching, skin rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing. If you have a known allergy to parsley or similar plants, avoid parsley juice.
Kidney Issues: Parsley is a natural diuretic, which means it may increase urine production and flow. While this can be beneficial for some people, excessive consumption might strain the kidneys or lead to electrolyte imbalances, especially in those with kidney issues. If you have kidney problems, consult your doctor before consuming parsley juice.
Gastrointestinal Distress: Some individuals may experience gastrointestinal discomfort, such as upset stomach, gas, bloating, or diarrhea, when consuming large amounts of parsley or parsley juice. Start with small quantities to assess your tolerance.
Blood Clotting: Parsley is a good source of vitamin K, which plays a role in blood clotting. If you're on blood-thinning medications (anticoagulants), consuming large amounts of parsley could interfere with these medications. Consult your healthcare provider for guidance.
Photosensitivity: Parsley contains compounds called psoralens, which can make the skin more sensitive to sunlight. Drinking large quantities of parsley juice might increase the risk of sunburn or skin reactions when exposed to sunlight.
Interactions with Medications: Parsley may interact with certain medications, including lithium (used for bipolar disorder), diuretics, and medications that affect blood clotting. Consult your doctor if you're taking any medications before adding parsley juice to your diet.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Pregnant and breastfeeding women should exercise caution when consuming parsley juice, as high amounts may affect hormonal balance or potentially stimulate uterine contractions.
Hypoglycemia: Parsley juice might lower blood sugar levels. If you have diabetes or are on medications that lower blood sugar, monitor your levels closely and consult your healthcare provider.
Oxalates: Parsley contains oxalates, which are compounds that can contribute to kidney stone formation in susceptible individuals. If you're prone to kidney stones, limit your intake of high-oxalate foods, including parsley.
Medicinal Herbs Interaction: Parsley is often used as an herbal remedy, but its interaction with other herbs and supplements is not well-studied. Be cautious if combining parsley juice with other herbal remedies.
Conclusion
It's important to consider that while Parsley Juice offers potential health benefits, it should be consumed as part of a balanced diet.
Additionally, the key to safe consumption of parsley juice is moderation. If you're uncertain about how parsley juice might affect your health, it's always wise to consult a healthcare professional before incorporating it into your diet, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking medications.
