Oh the joy it brings to have a once a year hall pass for lots of shopping and a good excuse to spend extra time with the loves you share life with! I love Christmas! What better way to share life’s precious moments throughout the year than with personalized gifts.
Each year my husband and I have a date and sit down and write out our gift giving list. Then I usually spend the time doing the shopping. Now that we have two kids dates are rare and few so we started the tradition of Christmas Shopping Date Day! What a great excuse to get together and have fun planning what the boys need and what traditions we want to start together as a family. We dropped the kiddos off with the grandparents, sister and brother-in-law, and headed to the mall for a nice lunch. We brought a computer for any online shopping needed and after lunch browsed leisurely through the mall. Wow- I cant remember the last time we had such a carefree day together! These moments spending time together are what Christmas is all about.
My husband happens to be a great gift giver. He always seems to know the perfect personalized gift even without you telling him what you want. He just knows. So I appreciate his opinion in this department. A couple of websites I love for personalized gifts are ChronicalBooks.com and TinyPrints.com (now Shutterfly). We used Chronical Books in the past for creating kids books that are personalized with their names throughout the story. Makes them feel so special!
Well this year I decided to personalize our gifts with Tiny Prints Holiday Wrapping Paper & Ornaments using photos from our recent family photo shoot. That way our family & extended family can enjoy these personal touches. I think next year I am going to create our paper with photos from throughout the years not just one shoot.
The ornaments I ordered are made of metal and are simple and classy. I am going to start collecting one each year to reflect on the year’s journey. Oh what a year 2014 has been – we had a baby!!!! How cute would these be as grandparent gifts? And lets not forget our matching Christmas Cards!
How do you personalize gifts during the year? Merry Christmas!
