Ingredients

For the apple base

4 apples (I like Honeycrisp or Granny Smith for that sweet-tart combo)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon nutmeg
pinch of salt
1 tablespoon arrowroot starch (optional, for a gooey finish)

For the crumble topping

1 cup almond flour
½ cup unsweetened shredded coconut
¼ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (if you want that crunch)
¼ cup coconut oil or ghee
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ginger
pinch of salt

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F.
Peel and slice your apples, then toss them in a bowl with lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and arrowroot (if using). Pour it all into a cast iron skillet.
Mix the topping ingredients in another bowl — almond flour, coconut, nuts, spices, and melted oil or ghee. Stir until it looks crumbly.
Sprinkle the topping evenly over your apples.
Bake for about 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden and the apples are bubbling and soft.
Serve warm — it’s even better with a dollop of coconut cream if you’ve got it.

Notes

Always double-check your labels — even something like shredded coconut can sneak in sugar.
