- Whips together in as little as 2 minutes! Plus it's better and creamier and thicker than any store-bought Cool Whip, Reddi Whip or canned whip cream.
- This Sugar Free Whipped Cream Recipe is the perfect addition to holiday treats and drinks.
Key ingredients
- Heavy whipping cream - make sure it is heavy whipping cream, not just cream or half and half otherwise it won't whip. See variations below for dairy-free.
- Monk fruit granulated sugar or powdered sugar - This is a natural sugar-free sweetener that sweetens sugar free whip cream perfectly without leaving an aftertaste. I use the granulated sugar for this recipe and it still tasted great. You can also find in stores powdered sugar (confectioner's sugar) that is sugar-free and keto-friendly and use that. I suggest making sure the monkfruit does not have erythritol (affiliate link) added in it as studies show erythritol can be harmful as it modifies blood platelets. You can also use Xylitol from a birch tree (affiliate link), which is sugar-free and a natural sweetener.
- vanilla extract - adds lovely flavor.
Flavor variations
Want to change the flavor of your homemade whipped cream? This is a basic whipped cream recipe without sugar using vanilla extract for flavor. You can make flavor variations by substituting the vanilla extract for equal amounts of these other flavors.
- lemon extract
- coconut extract
- almond extract
- peppermint extract
Tips and tricks
There are few trouble shooting issues that can happen when making keto whipped cream that can easily be avoided. Sometimes the cream just doesn't fluff so make sure to follow these tips for the best keto whipped cream.
- Use an electric mixer - A hand held mixer will make your arm tired and you'll want the even flow of air, power, and consistency that an electric mixer gives.
- Clean and wipe dry the electric mixing bowl out completely before whisking the ingredients - If there is any other liquid like water, then it will not peak as fluffy.
- Use a cold metal bowl - make sure the bowl is nice and cold so the ingredients can harden and start to solidify.
- Do not use a liquid syrup in place of the monk fruit - You can substitute the sugar with Xylitol, but don't use a liquid or it will be runny.
- I do not recommend stevia - Stevia is great for baking but can be a very strong flavor in a keto whipped cream.
Recipe instructions
See below recipe card for details and notes to making homemade whipped cream perfect every time.
Add the heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract to an electric mixer. Whisk on high (or use a hand mixer in a large bowl) for 2 minutes until it forms a soft peak and turns into whipped cream. Store and serve chilled.
Make it dairy-free
Want to make dairy-free sugar-free whipped cream? Use 1-2 cans of coconut cream in place of the heavy whipping cream. First, chill the cans in the refrigerator overnight. Then, open them upside down and drain out the water then scoop 1 ¼ cup of the cream into the mixing bowl with the sugar and vanilla and make according the recipe card directions.
