Beet Powder Latte
I have a fond obsession with beet powder lately, which is great to color foods naturally pink like these Valentine’s Day Muddy Buddies (Puppy Chow), or simply use the whole beet in these Gluten-Free Vegan Pink Sugar Cookies. Beet powder is also great to add to smoothies, beet juice, and even in a vegan latte recipe! The one used here I happened to find at Grocery Outlet on sale but it can be ordered online here.
How to make a beet latte at home
Forget the coffee shop and spending $5 on a latte. Simply use a handheld frother (foamer) to add a bubbly topping after blending and heating the milk, maple syrup and beet powder.
Step 1: In a blender add the milk, maple syrup, and beet powder. Blend until smooth.
Recipe Tip: Beet powder is strong so start with 1 teaspoon and work your way up to 1 tablespoon which is a serving. See what amount you like best. These images are made with 1 tablespoon of beet powder.
Step 2: In a small saucepan add the mixture and heat on medium until warm or hot. Serve right away or use a frother to add foam to the top. Serve right away.
Beets are incredibly good for the blood (hence their rich and vibrant redish purple color). They are a superfood to detox and cleanse the body by cleansing the blood and keeping the body pure. Adding a beet supplement to your diet can help lower blood pressure, are rich in antioxidants, reduce inflammation, oxidative stress, cognition and endothelial function [source].
When to enjoy this beet drink
Enjoy it anytime of the day! There is no caffeine, so it is a great drink to even drink in the evening as it will not have any effect on sleep.
How fun is this for Valentine’s Day and Christmas, or any pink and red occasion?
