It’s true, breakfast is the most important meal of the day and should not be skipped! Breakfast precisely means “breaking up the fast” from not eating for over eight hours while you sleep. It speeds up the metabolism for weight loss, jump starts the brain and energizes the body for the day.
So, it is important to make healthy morning choices! Let's turbo-charge the morning with a Greek yogurt bowl to help fill the gut with healthy bacteria.
My morning routing usually begins with coffee (I confess that is not very healthy on the gut). But I do it for the sake of my family. See I am a little off until that first taste, meaning do not even speak to me until I have had my cup-of-joe. Just give me a few sips and I am ready to roll and tackle every and any thing that comes my way.
Next comes fuel. About 4 out of 7 days a week I usually have Greek yogurt with fruit and nuts on top.
The benefits of yogurt with fruit on top in the morning is having that little bit of sweet first thing saves me from craving sugar the rest of the day.
Is Greek Yogurt Healthy?
Greek yogurt is one of the healthiest yogurts to consume. It has more protein than regular yogurt, contains probiotics, calcium and potassium along with being low in sodium. These components help build strong bones and muscles and clean the gut from unhealthy bacteria. Potassium is an essential mineral that functions as an electrolyte to help regulate the heart beat and contract muscles.

Banana cream or toasted coconut vanilla - top with banana slices, mango, kiwi, cashews and macadamia nuts. Optional to also add granola, chia seeds, hemp seeds and bee pollen.
Orange cream - turn your favorite flavor into a smoothie! Add orange cream to a blender with frozen bananas, peaches and a splash of orange juice.
Key lime – eat it plain as a healthy snack. Or make it into a Greek yogurt bowl by topping it with granola and fresh raspberries or blackberries.
Lemon meringue - turn this one into a yogurt parfait by layering yogurt, granola, fresh blueberries, yogurt, granola and top with more fresh blueberries, chia seeds and toasted coconut shavings.
Strawberry - make this delicious and simple yogurt bowl using sliced bananas and fresh or frozen berries.
Plain Greek yogurt – This is a great way to decrease sugar in a yogurt bowl. Add plain yogurt to a bowl and top with fresh berries and a drizzle of honey on top. You can also add stevia into the yogurt and mix together before adding the toppings. You can also mix it into oatmeal for added protein.
