    strawberry detox water

Strawberry water benefits and why this recipe is so great

When you are craving a soda or sugary drink, this detox water with strawberries and zesty lemon is so refreshing and a winning solution to control cravings! Not only does strawberry detox water taste great, it is loaded with plant-powered health benefits.

Strawberry detox water helps skin! Lemon and strawberries both have vitamin C which improves cells. Water helps to flush out the body and toxins which can help promote a prettier complexion. Strawberries also contain folic acid, which is important for cell regeneration and the production of new cells in our bodies.

Drinking infused water supports weight loss! Water mixed with lemon and strawberries may act as diuretics to flush out extra water we hold in from too much salt in the body, which can help decrease weight. Infused water also helps us to not drink high calorie drinks and so drinking this instead, which has fewer calories and sugar, can help lead to weight loss.

Strawberry detox water helps keep the immune system strong, reduces inflammation and supports insulin levels! Strawberries are a rich antioxidant, have anti-inflammatory, and anti-diabetic properties [source].

What ingredients go into this recipe

Strawberries, lemon, mint and water are combined to make this infused satisfying and delicious detoxing beverage. I prefer to muddle the strawberries to release the juices and flavors, but you can leave them sliced and enjoy eating them as is in the water.

How to make strawberry infused detox water

Rinse and dice the strawberries and muddle them on the side of a glass with a spoon. Or just add them diced into the glass. Pour in water, and squeeze the juice from a thin slice of lemon then add the lemon slice to the glass and fresh mint. Let it set in the refrigerator for 1 hour then enjoy as is or serve with ice.

You can also make this strawberry detox water with frozen fruit. Just add frozen strawberries to the glass in place of fresh strawberries with no need to muddle as frozen will release more juices naturally.

Fruits and vegetables to add to strawberry water

Strawberry water can be made with any citrus fruit including orange, lime or lemon!

This strawberry detox water is super simple to make and you can add more flavors by making a large pitcher of this drink and adding in extra produce. Here is what compliments strawberries in a detox drink:

    • orange slices
    • cucumber slices
    • kiwi slices
    • lime slices
    • fresh basil leaves

    Frequently asked questions and Tips

Is strawberry detox water good for you?

Yes, strawberry detox water is amazing for you! Strawberries are an excellent fruit to enjoy and are rich in antioxidants, reduce inflammation, and help with insulin levels. Combining it with water and lemon juice also helps to flush out and cleanse the body, while supporting digestion and balancing pH levels.

Does the lemon in this strawberry water detox?

Lemon itself does not detox. The body naturally detoxes through the intestinal tract and the liver and needs fiber to help flush out toxins and “cleanse” the body. What lemon does is help to jump start the digestive tract to push out toxins and it also alkaline the blood from becoming too acidic.

How long can you leave strawberries in water?

Leave the strawberries in the water no longer than 48 hours.

    Should detox water be refrigerated?

Refrigerate detox water for 1-24 hours and consume at best within 12 hours. Remove any citrus after 12 hours to prevent the drink from tasting bitter, and after 24 hours the fruits start to decompose.

When should I drink detox water?

Detox water is best consumed first thing in the morning to jumpstart digestion and help speed up the metabolism after sleeping. This strawberry detox water can be consumed first thing in the morning, throughout the day, in between meals, or with meals as a healthy alternative to sugar drinks such as soda and juice.

Hi Susan! If making a pitcher, fill it with about 8 cups of water and muddle the strawberries then add them, or leave the whole. As it sets, the water will start to pick up the strawberry flavor. Yes, you can totally add this to your morning routine, and do both:-). It is a great beverage to drink throughout the day to help flush out the bowels:-).
